THE SURGICAL AND PROSTHETIC PROGRAM

Spread over 5- three day sessions, this program enables dentists to master all aspect of the treatment plans in oral implantology based on the anatomic variation of the bones, caused by the loss of teeth. It combines theoretical courses with practical sessions.

The topics of study include asepsis, bone densities, intramucosal inserts, bone grafts and sutures. The program also enables dentists to treat their patients under the supervision of the teaching personnel.

Session I
Session II
Session III
Session IV
Session V

Session I: Prosthodontics, diagnosis and treatment in oral implantology

Summary:

At the end of the session, the dentist is able to make a precise diagnosis and establish a treatment plan taking into account all of the particularities of the maxillo-facial complex and the anatomical variations which result from bone resorption occasioned by the loss of teeth. The professional will master the fundamental concepts of biology, biomechanics, biomaterials and bone physiology. The methods and diagnostic tools learned enable the dentist to evaluate the patient in order to establish a treatment plan in implantology.

Finally, the professional will be able to carry out the sequential steps in the creation of prostheses and efficiently integrate the learned techniques into his or her practice. This session is a prerequisite for all the other prosthetic and surgical sessions.

Session II: Bone treatments division A

Summary:

This session covers the concepts and methods Related to the placement of implants in the form of a root. The surgical concepts vary depending on the anatomy and the density of the available bone. Among other topics, the surgical protocols for various bone densities, asepsis, pharmacology, anaesthesia, and surgical guides are studied.

Session III: Bone treatments division B

Summary:

This session deals primarily with minor intra-oral bone grafts in order to restore adequate bone volume. The session also covers the bone materials, the choice of membranes and their manipulation. Precise rules concerning the security zone of the alveolar nerve are given.

Session IV: Bone treatments division C

Summary:

This session is concerned with the different surgical and prosthetic treatments approaches for bones which are severely atrophied. Also covered are the concepts of occlusion, implants versus natural teeth, reunited teeth and implants.

Session V: Bone treatments division D

Summary:

This session deals with the techniques of subantal augmentation. The different surgical approaches associated with bone anatomy and the pneumatization of the sinuses is discussed.

N.B. In order to obtain A Surgical And Prosthetic Program Diploma, the candidate must pass A compulsory examination on the theoretical contents of the five sessions.
