Dr. Yvan Poitras is the founder and director of the Institut canadien d'implantologie. Founded in 1993, the Institute is an international institution of higher education for dental health professionals.

The teaching role of Dr. Poitras enables him to innovate, to remain at the point of evolution of the most advanced techniques and to pass these on to the clients of the Clinique d'implantologie de l'Institut. Thus, the clients of the Institute receive the latest, most sophisticated, and appropriate treatments.

A graduate of the Dental School of Laval University in 1984, Dr. Yvan Poitras first acquired a solid experience in implantology at the most renown schools, such as the Bränemark Clinic in Sweden (1990), the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (1991), and the Misch Implant Institute of Detroit (1992).

Since then he has actively participated as a clinician for the conception of new technologies. He is involved with the biomechanics and biomaterials research groups of the Polytechnical Institute of Montreal. Author of numerous scientific articles in the domain, Yvan Poitras is an invited speaker at international world congresses in different countries such as Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Holland, Monaco, Portugal, Spain, and the United States.

Highly involved in the domain, Dr. Poitras is also member of the most important international association of implantology, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists from which he received the title of ''Fellow'' and of ''Diplomat'', two of the highest distinctions. Furthermore, he is a professor and faculty member at the Misch Implant Institute, director-member of the Canadian Society of Oral Implantology, consultant for the conception of new implant components and consultant for the management of the dental practice for the Institute of International Development.
